​Artist Statement

Michael Hartstein’s work begins with a deep love of nature, wildlife, and the color found in the world around us.

I’ve been drawn to art for as long as I can remember. For more than 50 years, painting has been my way of expressing my deep connection to nature and the world around me.

I find inspiration in the character of an old tree, the personality of wildlife, the movement of water, and the unexpected beauty of wildflowers. I’m drawn to the details others might walk past, capturing not just what I see, but what I feel.

In my studio, I combine bold, vibrant colors, expressive brushwork, and imagination to capture the spirit of nature rather than simply reproduce it.

When you bring one of my paintings into your home, I hope it brings you joy, inspires a closer look, and deepens your own connection to nature. My greatest reward is knowing that something meaningful to me can become meaningful to you.
